What is OwnYourInfo?

OwnYourInfo is a new way to manage your important and private information. Whether you need to retrieve health insurance information or a frequent flyer number, OwnYourInfo ensures simplicity, security and a comprehensive set of templates to help you access and share your information.

How much does OwnYourInfo cost?

After your introductory 30 day free trial is up, you can subscribe to OwnYourInfo for only $4.99/month.

How much storage is available? Will I be able to upload all of my documents?

All OwnYourInfo accounts come with 5 gigabytes of secure storage space for your encrypted documents. If you require additional storage, contact us at support@ownyourinfo.com to make special arrangements.

How do I create a strong password?

We recommend that you use 14 characters or more; the greater the variety of characters in your password, the better. It is advised that when creating a password, you try to use the entire keyboard, not just the characters and numbers that you see most often.

I am not receiving my OwnYourInfo emails. Why?

If you are not receiving OwnYourInfo emails but think that you should be, be sure to check your Spam folder. If you still feel that you are not receiving emails in error, please contact us at support@ownyourinfo.com

I receive OwnYourInfo daily summary and newsletter emails. How do I manage these preferences?

To adjust email preferences, simply go to Account Options in the top right corner of the screen, and select Email Preferences under Account Information.

Information and Documents

How do I upload information to my profile?

Select from eight information categories located within the tabs on the left hand side of your dashboard: Personal, Health, Career, Finance, Insurance, Vehicle, Property, or Pet. There are a number of templates within each category; click on ‘add’ to the right of a template to add information.

How do I edit/delete information stored in my profile?

To edit information saved to your profile, click on the appropriate template and scroll over the category containing the info that you wish to change, clicking on the (show) text that appears. Each subcategory will be displayed and have corresponding edit and delete options.

How do I upload documents?

Select the Documents tab from the upper navigation menu and click on the Upload button in the right corner of the Documents screen. Provide a title for the document, tag the document under one of the categories provided, select your document and click the Upload button.

What types of documents can I upload to my account?

Upload any document that is of value to you and that you may wish to securely share. We accept documents in pdf, doc, xls, ppt, jpg, and png formats. See our Document Checklist (provide link) for a list of suggested documents to upload.

Can I print my documents with OwnYourInfo?

To print documents from the Document section, open the document that you wish to print by selecting the document title, then click on the document thumbnail in the top left corner and select the Print icon. To print documents from the Shared section, click on the document of choice’s thumbnail image, and then select the Print icon. To print documents from the Received section, select the document title and then click on the Print icon.

What are Reports?

Our site will develop summaries based on information entered in templates, allowing you to easily access and share overviews of your information.

Privacy

Is OwnYourInfo secure?

OwnYourInfo is extremely secure - as secure as any online banking system. Your data is stored in our SAS 70-type II secure datacenter. See our Privacy policy for more information.

Is my data private?

Yes. OwnYourInfo is a service dedicated to providing a private location for you to store your most sensitive information. No one has access to your data unless you provide it to them. If you do choose to share your information, you are given the ability to set an expiration on access, as well as set limitations to what a person can do with your document(s). Who owns my data?

You own your data and ultimately determine how and by whom that data is used. See our Privacy policy for more information.

How is my data used?

You determine who has access to your data. We we will NEVER sell or share your data. See our Privacy policy for more information.

Account

How do I access my account basics, such as my email address and payment info?

Click on the Account Options link on the top right of the screen to access and update your account information. From here, you can adjust your email address, profile password, email preferences, time zone, payment information, and permanently delete your account. You can also adjust your sub-profile’s account information.

Can I add information about someone other than myself to my account?

Yes. OwnYourInfo allows you to add as many sub-profiles to your account as you would like. Just scroll over and click New Profile in the top right of the screen.

Once my trial runs out, what happens to my information?

After your 30 day introductory trial expires, your information will stay on our servers for 14 days unless you request that it is deleted immediately. We maintain your information for this two week grace period to ensure that you do not lose information entered in case you still wish to sign up for a subscription to the site.

My trial is almost up. How do I sign up for a paid OwnYourInfo account?

To sign up for a site subscription and start making $5/mo. payments, click the Account Options link on the top right corner of the screen, then scroll down to Manage Payment Info. From here you can also manage payment options, such as credit card numbers.

I would like to close my account. How do I delete it?

You can permanently delete your profile or just sub-profiles any time by clicking on Account Options in the top right of the screen.

Sharing

How do the secure links work?

When you share data through OwnYourInfo your information is converted to a PDF file and tied to a link through an email address. You are given the option to set an expiration time for shared documents, as well as define access privileges for recipient(s). As an extra security feature, we require that the recipient verify their identity through an activation link. This prevents the recipient from forwarding your private information.

How do share documents and information?

To share documents, select the document that you want to share. Click on the Share button, then enter your desired recipient(s) information and set access permissions.
To share information, select a category, and click on the Share button. You can then select which information you would like to share.

Other

I’ve noticed that OwnYourInfo has an iPhone app, but not an app for Android. Will you be developing an Android app?

OwnYourInfo is a new company, and is still developing. We are in the beginning stages of creating an Android app, and hope that we will be able to offer it to our customers sooner rather than later. Please contact us at support@ownyourinfo.com for any updates on the Android development.
